Science didn't pay out

Recommended Posts

Hi all. In my career game I accepted a contract dock 2 vessels on or in orbit of the Mun. I did this perfectly at a height of 289k but didn't it never fulfilled the contract. I even undocked and redid it to make sure but still nothing?

Any ideas as to why not?

Well it's either:

a) Your not completing the contract.

b) The game is being strange or

c) It's a mod conflict.

I suggest you just use good old alt+f12 to complete the contract. If you did it, then it's not really cheating right? Right?

did you launch the two vessels at the same time on 1 rocket?  if so thats the problem, i ran into that a while back and just forced completed it with the debug menu lol

Yes that's what I did. Thanks for the answer :)

It's worth noting that the contract was deliberately implemented that way, to prevent people from completing it by doing exactly what you tried to do.  The reason they disallow that scenario for the exact reason why you want to do it:  because it's easier that way.  The point of the contract is, you need to accomplish an orbital rendezvous, not just be able to maneuver two things together that were already parked next to each other.

That said, though, it's a free-play game, so of course anyone is free to force-complete it via the debug cheat menu if they don't consider that to be "cheating".

Personally, I like that they put the restriction in, to make it more challenging... my main beef is that it's not communicated clearly in the contract.  The wording of the contract really should say that the two vessels have to be from separate launches.  It's always been a pet peeve of mine when I do a contract, and I literally followed the exact letter of what it says in the contract, and it doesn't complete because it turns out there's some additional requirement that wasn't specified and isn't obvious.

Or require that they move substantially apart (outside physics range would be an easy test) before docking.

When I'm doing science landings on Minmus I usually do it with a lander on top of the tanker that will refuel it.  By the time they dock (which is usually my first dock) it's hopped multiple times.  That's certainly compliance with the spirit of the contract.
