KSP RSS Install does not start

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

I'm new in this forum, so please don't kill me. :/

I tried to make an RSS installation but something went wrong - at least I suppose, because the game does not start. That is why I don't have a logfile... Sorry for that. Please don't kill me...

At least I've got a screenshot from the loading screen. The game stopps loading right there when it gets to this folder:

squad/parts/utility/commsAntennaDTS-M1/commsAntennaDTS-M1/mediumDishAntenna

It seems to have a problem with an antenna-part of the stock game? What am I doing wrong? Is that a known issue?

I have uploaded my screenshot into this thread, but it says that my content has to be approved by a mod... so...

Thank you very much for your help and your support.,

Konstantin

Do you have Module Manager installed? The loading usually freezes for a brief moment on a specific part (might be this antenna, not sure) just before loading MM patches, because it takes some time to do so. Because the loading screen freezes there doesn't mean the issue is with this part in particular, it can be with other mods (here I'd say MM).

As @Phineas Freak said, we need a bit more info to find out. Though the .log files are not inside the GameData folder, but inside your main KSP folder (KSP_win64 if on Windows).

Hey, thanks for your replies, mates.

I used the latest official version for VSR. I deleted that mod, so the game could start up. Now there is a log file:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/wbdesmrjc9nvqim/output_log.txt?dl=0

So, I need to get the new version somewhere. There is another issue with my install. Crafts can barely take off - even with an good TWR. After the rocket has burn out the craft hovers over the ground... :/

And can someone tell me how to add custom launch sites to KSC Switcher?

Kerbal Renamer seems not to work as well... Just issues with the new version of KSP? ;.;

Hello Konstantin.

- For KSC switcher: If I remember correctly, you have to go to the tracking station and switch to the desired launch site from there. I'm not sure that mod is still up to date though. By default, you'll be launching from Florida. If it is still working, you should find a .cfg (open it with Wordpad) file in the KSC switcher folder where you would find all the different sites. Copy an entry from any in it, add a different ID (just change a number or two, any you want), change the name and location to what you want and save the file. (Dont forget to do the same with Remote Tech if you wish to have signal from there)

- For your TWR: What mod are you using for your engines in Real Solar System? Is it R.O. or Smurff? It is worth noting that in RSS, a good TWR to start is around 2. Also be sure that your rocket is not "stuck" in the pad: use launch clamps to elevate it a bit so you can see your bottom engine above the ground.

- For Kerbal Renamer, as for KSC switcher, both made by Regex, are unfortunately not updated for KSP 1.2.2..

So you confirm that the problem was the old VSR release?

There is an unofficial update by @Kerbas_ad_astra: https://github.com/Kerbas-ad-astra/Stock-Revamp/tree/KSP_1.2

If you are playing with just stock + RSS then you will not be going anywhere. Stock is not designed for such large rescales and for that you must install either SMURF or ROMini.

KSCSwitcher is not released for KSP 1.2 yet (one will have to recompile it from the source for now).

As with the case of KSCSwitcher, neither Kerbal Renamer has a compatible release for KSP 1.2. You won't need it anyway, it is not a required required mod by RSS.
