Is relay network mandatory in version 1.2?

Recommended Posts

Hello my KSP is currently in version 1.13 and there is already a lot of satellite and deep space probes in my career mode.

I would like to know if the telecommunication relay network is mandatory in version 1.2? Could I turn it off in options menu?

I'm just afraid of losing control of the deep space probes because of lacking relay satellite.

Not mandatory at all. You can turn it off, or turn it up to require even more relays.

Moving to Gameplay Questions.

As long as it has a direct antenna with sufficient power to talk to Kerbin you'd be fine

Not even that.  Just turn off CommNet completely and everything works the same as it did pre-1.2 (i.e. antennas aren't required at all for control, only for transmitting science).

It's a completely optional feature.
