EVA, Kerbonaut re-entry of Kerbin?

I do not know if anyone has asked this before, but can a Kerbal re-enter Kerbin while in EVA? I have never seen such a thing or tried it myself as my gaming computer is under repairs since the beginning of .16. (sorry if English is bad, I\'m still trying to translate from Russian.)

You can re-enter while in EVA, but you will not survive the fall unless you can somehow hold on to some rocket parachutes/parts that glide you down.

Ive just made a simple rocket to get to a few thousand meters and once it ran out of fuel i i separated it all and opened the chute.

EVA\'ed and rode that bad boy all the way back to the surface. (Think Major Kong in Dr.strangelove.)

Chute opened the test pilot was able to hold on the whole time till touch down. when the doomsday device went off and all was lost
