Steel
Sometimes you just have to marvel at how amazing technology is these days. Here we are, people from all over the world talking on an online forum about the facts that the live coverage of a rocket landing on a remote controlled ship in the middle of the Atlantic was a little patchy Edited October 30, 2017 by Steel

tater
http://www.krgv.com/story/36728029/spacex-installs-2nd-antenna-at-boca-chica-beach Quote A second tracking antenna was installed on Boca Chica Beach as SpaceX's launch site continues to develop. The two ground station antennas where shipped to the site from the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The antennas will be used to track Crew Dragon missions to the International Space Center. A Space X spokeswoman said launches should begin in 2018. Nightside
Its good to hear that the rest of the company is still working on Dragon even if Elon's attention has shifted to grander things.
tater
Makes me wonder what the pad infrastructure will look like. The assumption has been that Boca Chica would be a BFR pad. 2018 flights means they are at least going to get a F9 TEL there as well. tater
https://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2017/11/spacex-aims-december-launch-falcon-heavy/ Quote With one launch left off LC-39A before the pad’s final conversion for the new rocket occurs, SpaceX is understood to be targeting mid-December for the Static Fire of Falcon Heavy followed by a late-December, No Earlier Than 29 December, launch of the heavy lift rocket. CatastrophicFailure
Wow, great article. The NASASpaceflight one, not the twit going on about the “International Space Center” in orbit. Anyways... Quote Given current timelines, L2 processing information notes that the Falcon Heavy could grace Pad-A as early as “late-November”. I know what I’ma be thankful for this Turkey Day. Also: Quote For Falcon Heavy, it is understood that two engines will be lit simultaneously followed by the next two… and so on until all 27 are up and running. That is gonna look sooo cool! As long as it doesn’t explode. Also: I really flarping hate this flarping mobile editor.
Nightside
It seems like lighting the engines is the riskiest part of FH. Why? What is the max number of engines successfully ignited at launch so far? once flying it won’t be much different from delta4 heavy.

What is the max number of engines successfully ignited at launch so far? once flying it won’t be much different from delta4 heavy. The N1 fired thirty engines on its first stage at launch, and we all know how that worked out. There are a lot of launchers with multiple engines plus various verniers, but that doesn't really count because the verniers are much smaller. I do not know of any orbital vehicle which uses more than nine identical boost engines on the first stage. Engine start is risky because you're dealing with potential oscillations, thrust differentials, and force interactions which could conceivably produce cumulative effects which would not be anticipated. It will be much worse than Delta IV Heavy in flight.
