KSP CTD on initial loading screen

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, newbie to the forum. Been away for a year and desperate to get back to my space program now, but it always crashes either on the loading screen or at the first menu. Here's a link to my log: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtcO0MP2A_XZ_Q3G8PKILISnCyNF

My comp's pretty old but it used to run KSP just fine. I'm running on 32-bit Win7.

If anyone can help, I'd be super grateful!

From your log it appears you have a 32 bit version of Windows and the slightly less than 4GB of RAM that that setup allows. This is not an ideal setup, but you can work around it.

Go to your C:\Windows\System32 directory and look for a file called cmd.exe, right click it and select the Run as Administrator option, this will bring a command prompt with admin rights. Copy and paste (or type) this in the command prompt:
BCDEDIT.EXE /Set IncreaseUserVa 3072
Restart your computer for changes to take effect. Then play KSP again and check if the crashing stops/becomes less frequent.

That said, it is strongly recommend that you install a 64 bit version of Windows if at all possible.
