What's that graphics mod that youtubers use?

Hello. I've watched a lot of KSP videos, and I always see a recurring thing: the graphics mod. It's the one that changes the texture and animations of the water, that adds the sun's shine on the water, that adds auroras for the poles, and other cool stuff. So what's it called?

It's not just any one mod, but combinations.  This is what I use; however, I know there are other combinations people use.  The combination of mods makes lights, objects, enviornment, weather, plumes, windows, planets, water, clouds, and more so much better!~

Graphical Mods
------------------
- Crew Lights
- Distant Object Enhancement
- Distant Object Enhancement Default Config
- Engine Lighting
- Enviornmental Visual Enhancements
- Kopernicus Planetary System Modifying
- PlanetShine
- Poods Milky Way Skybox
- Real Plume
- Real Plume - Stock Configs
- Scatterer
- Scatterer - Default Config
- Scatterer - Sunflare
- Sigma Replacements: Skybox
- SmokeScreen - Extended FX Plugin
- Stock Visual Enhancements
- Stock Visual Enhancements - High Res Textures
- Stock Visual Terrain
- Texture Replacer Replaced
- Window Shine

If you run KSP on an older PC and are afraid your system can't handle the strain only focus on Environmental Visual Enhancements and PlanetShine.
Just installing those two will result in an enormous visual upgrade and any system should be able to handle it without much trouble.

I used Eve, but uninstalled it after my frame rate would drop to like 20 when I looked at the clouds.

Yep, eye candy mods in KSP are pretty heavy on your resources. You need plenty of RAM and a good CPU to run those smoothly, I only really started to use them after I got powerful hardware.

I run KSP on a potato-and-a-half; A 9 year old win7 2.8GHz i5. I run plenty mods including EVE and PlanetShine and only get occasional lag. I stand by my previous statement that any reasonable PC can run those mods, just don't expect to get fluid gameplay on the highest settings.

That's true, I agree with you there. But the above statement of the OP made me assume he considers fluid gameplay a necessity. When EVE alone is to much for your machine/expectations, then scatterer etc would definitely require a hardware update. I guess we can both agree on that as well.

edit: for the record, and to the OP: on my laptop I run KSP with EVE and low res clouds pluse a skinned down scatterer (none of the water stuff etc) and some other lean mods and I am failry happy with the performance, as long as the craft on scene are not too big. The laptop is pretty decent though.

I run KSP on a Windows 10 laptop/notebook. Average framerate at low settings is about 40, ships with a part count of 100 make it 30.
