Error message when starting KSP "Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device?"

Hi!

I have own KSP a few years but not played too much yet. Anyways I get a message each time I try to start it through the launcher;

"Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device?" It's refering to "KSP_x64.exe".

I find it strange that the application is not signed?!

Also my "Current Version ID" is 1891, while it states that the latest is 1804... How do I have a newer than latest...?

I could be wrong, but that is most likely just a notification from your firewall/antivirus software...
KSP, by default, tries to "phone home"...

you can accept, or create an exception for your firewall/antivirus to allow it, or to deny it... shouldnt affect the game starting either way...
I have it blocked by my firewall since the first time it popped up... it has no effect on playing the game

Sounds like UAC to me. Right click your KSP_x64.exe go to "Properties" and make sure "run this program as an administrator" is not checked.

it is uac. There's no clean way to work around the prompt, short of disabling uac completely.

Yeah, I know it is UAC, but it wouldn't give that message for signed applications. Why isn't this application signed? It makes very little sense...

I still come up against official Microsoft apps/programs/websites that arent properly signed either...
