Eve Ascent Vehicle 5m

I noticed that some posters over in my how to use 5m parts thread were talking about 5m EAVs. So, let’s make a thread for it! Let the discussion begin.

I would be curious if you could take a 5m tank and add a crap load of dart engines or whatever to the bottom, and if it would have more or less drag than a “normal” eve ascent vehicle (with asparagus staging and all that) for a similar DV value  

I would test it if I could, but not at home.

The verdict: It has enough thrust, i would recommend 8 vector engines for each medium 5m tank. It flips over a lot, but that was expected.

I only see purpose on this if you are trying to make a SSTO, or save a lot of Kerbals at once. If it's a disposable vehicle for 1 Kerbal, a set of tanks 1.25m with aspargus staging will be much lighter.

One important thing to get things to orbit on Eve without huge losses is streamlining. So to get a 5m tank to orbit you'd likely want it tapered to a point at both ends, which means using all the different sized coupling pieces or similar.
