Mechjeb 2 install location

I'm playing KSP on my mac through steam and when i run KSP and get to my menu screen a message pops up about the mechjeb mod being installed improperly when i put the mechjeb mod folder inside the game data folder in KSP with all the files remaining inside the folder. can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Is the .dll actually in the /plugins folder?   Otherwise I can't see anything obviously wrong.

Does it look like this inside the MJ folder?  (You might nor have /PluginData, that's created when MJ runs)

yes that is what it looks like

If the plugin is in it's proper place, then I'm fresh out of ideas.  Let me link to this in the MJ thread and get more eyes on the problem.
