[Stock 0.16 Space Plane] Dasher

The other day I wanted to create a plane which was easy to turn and change direction whilst in flight, and this was my result.

This plane isn't intended for long distance travel but is good for travelling short distances quickly. I also have put RCS thrusters on it which I use to drive the plane whilst it is grounded. If you have any suggestions for what I can do to improve it please say.

Looks great. Long distance isn't really a necessity unless you're going to the other KSC or the poles. It's fun to just fly around.

You could upload the .craft file to mediafire or something similar, and then link it here.

ok If you know how you can attach a .zip to your thread. to do this put your craft in a file and then compress it to a .zip. I did this on my thread which unfortunatly has been forgotten by the internets.

I want to host it but I do not want to use Mediafire because I don't want to pay so that the time the file is hosted on there is unlimited. I'll see what I can do about hosting it though.

Just use DropBox to host it. It's free and unlimited time, so there's no problems there.

Also, cool design. I was wondering, do the advanced canards on the front pivot or tilt or anything during maneuvers? Seems like they would mess up the craft if they did.

It looks odd, but it seems to function well. I wish I could make space planes, hah, they seem to either not take off or spin out of control.

I'll definitely be using this for some missions I have planned involving the North Pole.

Cool! Not sure this Spaceplane is well equip to get to the North Pole though, unless you are extremely efficient with the fuel.

Never really attempted, but like I said before, if your efficient with the fuel, it could be possible.

Could you get in to the air with SRBs if so then just get lots of them on it so it can get to space even if it's just one go per take off

Well, courtesy of the hyperjump mod with an endpoint attached to a camera cart, me and my friend hyperjumped to an endpoint on the mun!

Though jet engines don't work in a vacuum, so kinda just orbiting there with no power at all.

But still the most awesome looking spaceplane I know!

Wow, thanks for the good feedback! Also, I'm not to sure how the hyperjump mod works so, not really sure if getting into orbit around the moon can be classed as legit, rather than cheating, but I'm still glad that someone decided to post pictures of it, also did you add thrusters onto the front of the vehicle?

I left it as is for the most part except for the hyperspace engine.

It's pretty much cheating, yeah. Think of it like warp drive from Star Trek. Or EVEN BETTER, Mass Effect Relays from Mass Effect! Lets you "teleport" from one spot to another, given you're within 75km (distance subject to change) of an "endpoint" (any vessel or debris with a hyperdrive endpoint attached).

I like messing around with mods and that sci-fi twist just tickled my fancy too much to ignore.

But yeah, I figured it was still doing science. And I guess jet engines require an atmosphere for power. I think I'll try setting the plane up vertically and trying a legit orbital launch, though. And might change out the engine for rocket power if I can find out a way to do that without taking apart everything else.

But if that isn't one lovely picture. You made one awesomely wicked-looking plane. Gonna try flying to the northpole with it, too!

Update:

No luck getting it into orbit. I can't seem to get it off the ground launching like an ordinary rocket. It likes to pitch upwards and land on the top of the plane... with explosive results.

Guess I'll just see if I can get it to north pole.

Update 2:

Made it to the north pole!

3 - EVA'd on the surface.

Kicked to the last fuel tank soon after the plane was over ice and not just water.
