Yup, you found an odd non-Kerbal vehicle that has been embedded in a rock for a very long time. (That's how it's supposed to be.)

Did it have any sounds near it, or are they a relic of the past?

I think the sounds are only at the pyramid, not the rover in the rock?

I heard nothing at the rover in the rock but when I finally got to the pyramid (around 400km at 55m/s), via another useless green monolith, there certainly were sounds but no surprise since the description is something like: "We have discovered a pyramid emitting an anomalous signal on Duna."
