Steam Summer Sale 2018

A bit late, but the steam summer sale has started!

There aren't any really amazing deals this time, but plenty of games on decent sales. The discounts will remain the same (no flash deals) until July 5th. There's also some kind of browser game tie-in.

My recommendations:

Factorio. Never goes on sale, but worth it at $30.

Fallout: New Vegas. Currently 67% off, but often goes to 75% off. Wait until it does.

Gorogoa. $9, very unique, but sadly short. Currently there's a bundle with What Remains of Edith Finch, which is pretty interesting.

The Half-Life and Portal series always is super cheap during these sales, and you should definitely play Portal if you haven't.

A Hat in Time is a fun 3d platformer that works well with a keyboard and mouse. It is currently $20. It's a bit short, but has support for user-made levels. I personally was reminded of Super Mario Galaxy, which I loved when I was younger.

Heat Signature is $10, and one of the first games with permadeath that I've really liked.

INFRA is $15, and all the best of 1st person puzzle solving. More half-life 2 than Myst in style of puzzle, it has lots of secrets and is super long. However, it has been cheaper.

OneShot is $6, but was once $5. Very meta.

Opus Magnum is on its steepest discount yet, at $15. If you've bounced off zachtronics games before, try this one. Solving is easy, optimizing is hard.

Papers, Please is currently $5, but has been as low is $2. A classic, and maybe the best exploration of morality in video games ever.

Planet Coaster is good, but it's currently $20, and has been as cheap as $11.

Spec Ops: The Line is hard to describe. It's almost unpleasant to play, but second only to Papers, Please in terms of morality, but almost entirely through the story, rather than through the mechanics. However, although it's only $6, it has previously been free on steam, so you may want to keep your eye out for that.

 

This year, I'm looking at:

Door Kickers

Crypt of the NecroDancer

Dishonored

Just Cause 3 (maybe XL?)

Recursed

And Darkest Dungeon.

All of which adds up to $25.

Does anyone have any thoughts on those? And What is the difference between Just Cause 3 and Just Cause 3 XL is? What do people think of the Dishonored DLC?

EDIT: And what do people think of the 2016 Hitman series? It's about $30, but more to the point, it's 50 gigabytes, which would be days of downloading with my internet. I've played the demo, and I liked it, but does it get tedious later?

I’m looking at Shovel Knight and Hollow Knight, myself.

I would consider Making History as well…but I’m waiting for the whole GPDR/analytics/Red Shell thing to be addressed first.

Looks like you can get most of the Orange box bundle for <$1 each right now.  Quality games almost free.

You might still be able to refund it, have you had it for less than 2 weeks and played for less than 2 hours?

Either way, I think it's worth full price, and if you don't have the DLCs you can get them. They're all very interesting and unique, although you may not like them all as much as the base game.

The  stems from the fact that if I'd been a bit more patient, I could've saved $10. I've got 15 hours in so far, and I'm loving it
