Pneumatics, catepillar tracks, rotating platforms, ropes and winches

While we can have such things (pneumatic lift, tracks, rotating tower, ropes and winch) with Lego, we can't have those in game, is this too much for ask?

Certainly not, as long as you are willing to install mods:

-Inferbal Robotics has hinges and actuators that let you build lifts etc

-Kerbal Foundries has tracks, amongst other things

-Dock Rotate can give you rotating towers easily

-use KIS/KAS for winches and ropes.

With that being said, there are stock solutions for each and all of the above. People have been building hinges out of stock parts for a long time now. Things like chains are possible if you are smart about it and dont mind big part counts.

Furthermore, about your question if this is too much to ask, I would like to know why compare it to Lego at all? Would anyone go to the Lego forum and complain that their Lego Saturn V does not spray fire like their KSP Saturn V? Just kidding my friend :)  I get your point, and sure hope that some of these things become stock one day.

Yes, it is too much to ask.

None of those things really have much to do with space travel, which is the focus of the game. Nor are they needed to complete stock objectives. So clearly; mod territory.

The building gameplay is basically the only similarity, since the main focus of KSP is space exploration, orbital mechanics and aerodynamics

Like I said, if you insist in a stock game, there are ways to build all this stuff. People do hinges, cranes, lifts, chains etc, all kinds of things, with a pure stock KSP parts.

Such creations tend to have high part counts, as even a simple hinge takes a handful of parts.

Creative players might use airbrakes or control surfaces as actuators and thus end up with real moving parts.

I suggest you check out the twitch streamer EJ_SA. He plays stock only, and has an impressive infrastructure for reusing his boosters. His hinges are among the most reliable I ever found. And he is very willing to answer all questions, takes time out to explain you things etc. If you are into stock hinges and all that, he is a great teacher.
