Perseverance! 24 minutes ago, Triop said: Are there people willing to do this if I make this into a challenge ? I would advice anyone to run away screaming . . . I'm interested in it. I'm still getting back into KSP. Rovers in a stock game I could handle soon. The aircraft might be a bit more challenging. Providing a savegame with just the 2 flags at the poles would help. I could always start it off with rocket-delivery of the probe to the start if I wanted to skip the aircraft.

Flying in the markers is part of the challenge. It's not only driving pole2pole, it's also a rally. The time starts as soon as you start a new game. So you will be on your own from the beginning. Designing the vehicles won't take time since the clock stops in the vab and sph. You can use a shortcut by flying to the southpole, place a flag, fly back, launch your rover transport to the northpole, place flag, begin. There are still a lot off things to work out for a good challenge. Probably not necessary as the latitude and longitude are easily visible in the map view or appropriate engineering mod windows/overlays. Quote Flying in the markers is part of the challenge. It's not only driving pole2pole, it's also a rally. The time starts as soon as you start a new game .... [and of course...] - long boring drives You did roughly lay out the conditions in the initial post. But thanks for clearly reposting them. I did design some aircraft back in KSP 1.0.4 and earlier in BTSM. Didn't do any cargo haulers, though. And I really like many mods, especially for aircraft, like editor mods and aircraft HUD and autopilots, similar to real life. And the autopilots I think still don't do great circle routes, so it'll still be manual navigation. Especially as heading hold will fly a rhumb line which will only get to the poles if flown straight north or south.... Oh, an aircraft autopilot would help a lot. Well, I've used pitch trim too. Often with NavHud or Kerbal Flight Indicators. But I'd really want NavUtilities to get any aircraft back on the ground at KSC. Although you flew out your pole marking and vehicles, I'd still be tempted to do 2 rockets unless explicitly or implicitly excluded. One to the south pole to mark the finish point, another with the rover to the north pole to start. If I was really crazy, I might use FMRS to fly both rockets at the same time! (Warning! FMRS not tested! May require first rocket to be above the atmosphere before launching the second (and that's a damn good pad turnaround, what, under 15 minutes?). May lead to dry mouth and insomnia. If conditions persist beyond 2 weeks, consult your nearest astrodynamisist. Remember kids, practice safe statistics. It's what the pros do!) Even if successful, that still leaves hardware and two Kerbals on the poles. Maybe specify whether recovery in flight mode is necessary. And if I break the rover.... Roll out another rocket-rover! 9 minutes ago, Triop said: VISUAL CONTACT ! Stay on the bomb run! Pure vanilla, without quicksaving (I can never check if somebody would quicksave, that is why I allow to fly in a new buggy unless your kerbal is death) I will allow Fueled engines and refueling them. But seriously, you think people would go that far ? I guess if this becomes a challenge I'd split it up into vanilla and modded. Everybody's feedback is welcome.
