Cannot launch KSP after purchasing

Recommended Posts

I bought KSP yesterday and I finished installing it. Once I launched the game it just popped up a white screen that is nonresponsive. I’ve tried to run it as admin, validated the game cache, and launched it from the ‘KSP_x64’ file. I still have no success but really want to play my new game, please help any is appreciated

We need more informations:

Basic system specs (CPU, RAM, GPU), operating system and probably an actual log file and not just the name of it ;) Usually, the error.log (located in the crash folder you got the name from) doesn't provide many useful informations, but in this case you should upload it as well, together with the output_log.txt or the KSP.log. The KSP.log is located in your ksp install directory, your output_log.txt is a bit more difficult to find, take a look in this thread, it contains all possible locations for each operating system:

My specs are:

intel core i7

i have 1254.7 GB on my hard drive

i have 16305 MB of memory

my cpu has 4 cores running at 2.49 GHz

my hard drive speed is 410 MBps

I have 12 GB of ram

its a 2014 MSI GS60 Ghost so I don’t think that my laptop is having an issue with loading it or handling the game. But I’ve done multiple self checks for malware and anything that’s out of the ordinary and it’s all fine. I just might have to wait and see if a KSP update comes out then fixes my problem but if you have any suggestions please let me know it’s greatly appreciated.

Also I tried the support link for the unmodded version of KSP but the page isn’t found, sorry for the bother I just was really anticipating to play it and it’s a bit disappointing that it’s not working properly

Did you read the thread posted above?  In there is where to find the ksp.log file you need to share with us.   Please DO NOT post it in the forum, but use a third party service like drop box to host the file, as it is very large.

If you look closely, you'll notice this is only the date and time of the crash, no other info...  The logs mentioned in the sticky would be very useful.

How do I go to that?

The most useful informations can be found in the output_log.txt and the KSP.log.

Lets assume you are using windows, than you will find them here:

KSP.log: KSP_install_directory/KSP.log (the same folder cotains your KSP.exe and KSP_x64.exe)
output_log: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Squad\Kerbal Space Program\output_log.txt
error.log: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Squad\Kerbal Space Program\Crashes\Crash_2018-09-04_141530\error.log

If you don't use windows, take a closer look at my first response to you.

Like Gargamel already mentioned, please don't copy&paste the logs into the forum. Upload them to a file hoster and share a download link with us :)

By file holster do you mean to email them to you separately or do something else?

A file hoster provides an online service to store files on their server. Every cloud like dropbox, google drive, one drive, etc...will do the job as well. You can find like million of different file hosters, for example:
http://www.tinyupload.com/
https://www.filehosting.org/
https://www.4shared.com/
