Yeah. No matter how big or small your craft is, or if you have cheats enabled, after a certain point your craft will just explode.

Well internally, there is no surface. You may or may not have heard that ksp uses a terrain system called pqs, which basically means all planets are deformed cubes. All except jool, that is. It has a texture, but no solid surface.                                    (1/2)

Planets have 2 main components, pqs and scaledspace(ss for short). Ss is what you see from the map view or from far away. Gas planets only have ss, although pqs and oceans(A Different pqs) can be added.                                      (2/2)

Jool's atmosphere kills anything we could send down into it long before coming anywhere near something solid. Pressure, heat, aggressive chemicals, destructive winds, lightning, radiation... you name it. Not so much a question of whether the craft is destroyed, but which one of those will make it fail first.

Maybe one day when the monoliths awake and ignite Jool, fragments of its diamond core get blasted throughout the system and we can finally, in some way, touch Jool's 'surface'.
