game changes its own resolution?

i play on a 4k monitor but seeing as how the text is always tiny when gaming in certain games(this being one of them) i set the game to 1080, the problem is whenever i launch a craft the game reverts to running at 4k until i quit back to the menu and change it back.

this is frustrating, anybody else have this problem? it would be a pain to change my desktop resolution every time i want to load ksp.
