Error code/Game Crash, please help

Recommended Posts

Good day fellow orbital and space enthusiasts. I am Tenko and I have a very annoying problem with KSP that I am unable to figure out. Ok a few years back I installed the game through Steam and it worked perfectly, I stopped using it to the point that I uninstalled it. But now after being reminded on how cool the game is I installed it again through Steam.

Only this time the game crashes/throws an error when it is not even halfway through the load screen. I cleaned some of my computer's memory, uninstalled and installed the game, saved the game files to another more memory spacious area of my computer. Turned off my Kasperskey antivirus software (as one person mentioned that it can cause issues). And it still crashes/errors right before the half mark on the loading screen. I did not save the error code text at the moment but I plan to post it later, should someone requests to see what type it is.

For me I am unable to find really any posts of players who have experienced my issue, therefore I humbly ask, please if any has experienced the same issue or just knows how to trouble shoot the problem, please I ask for your advice. I miss playing this really cool space game :(.

I feel your fraternization. It helps to know which version. I installed 1.5.1 with the expansion and I notice it laggs a bit during loads. This is probably because its loading lots of content so it depends on which type of computer your using. Personality the game loads with me just fine with little lag but I have issues with crashing flags. It is pretty annoying that noone is responding or addressing these types of issues. I am doing a quick test right now and if the problem persist with clean save file, I am quitting this game till they fix some bugs on it.

Ok, well I followed your advice Thorn_Ike and I believe that the info below is what you mentioned.

To me this looks like the usual case of old mods breaking the game. Uninstalling the game through Steam will not remove files that the game created or that you placed there yourself. That means all the saves and mods will still be there when you reinstall the game unless you manually delete them. So I'd say go to your GameData folder and make sure the only thing in there is the Squad folder and if you have the DLC the SquadExpansion folder.

Hello Harry Rhodan. Ok so what you say is that I need to go to the GameData folder and delete anything other than the Squad folder and the SquadExpansion (if I have the DLC). Alright I will check it tonight. Something just occurred to me, what if I only find the Squad Folder and the DLC folder? Where else would I need to look?
Again to you and fellow players, thank you all for the advice!

Is it still mono.dll crashing when trying to read from 00000000?

If it's still the same error I would uninstall the game and then manually delete the Kerbal Space Program folder before reinstalling.

Otherwise you could try to upload the output log to a third party site like dropbox or pastebin and then post the link here. You can find the output log here: C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\CompanyName\ProductName\output_log.txt
