The persistent.sfs

It does... but that isn't a problem as even a large persist (I have one with 72 ongoing flights right now and it's only 10MBs in size. Something even a computer from 2002 can handle as it's a relatively small file to load into memory. Sure, Squad could set it up so it only loads relevant chunks at a time, but you'd only gain 10 measly megabytes to work with. Even by Unity's standards, that isn't very much.
