Loading Asset Bundle Definitions, the thing that stops me from playing

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was trying to run KSP on my Laptop as usual. It did stop to load whilst showing the"Loading Asset Bundle Definitions" text. I sadly can not offer you any log involving this problem because it does not get written. I have gone through at least ten different tips I found around the web, none did work. Deleting KSPedia, squadcore.ksp did not change anything at all, deleting squadcorefx.ksp just moved the problem to later in the loading process (these are all the stock Assets as far as I know and I did not expect this to work anyways). Permissions on folders should also be ok. I am running on Win10 8GB 2,4GHz i7, I only have an integrated graphics chip but it was working a few days ago. Any ideas on how to fix it?

EDIT: I tried to reinstall but neither the uninstaller nor the installer are willing to run so i sadly can't even use that method to get to playing

How long have you waited?  KSP is known for insanely long load times in certain situations.

There will be logs generated, those can be found here:

Please, if you do find the logs, host them on a 3rd party site and link to them here.   Thanks.

I have waited multiple times around 1-1.5h that should hopefully be enough. Before I was loaded not even 5 min from when I started. The only log data is the KSP.log in "C:\Kerbal Space Program" (my installation directory) but that log still shows the events from the last successful launch, nothing in there that seems to cause problems.

These are the output_log.txt files as stated in the article you linked. I will have another look and edit this if I can find something else

My apologies, it is. I must have clicked on the other log twice.

It doesn't look like you're running a steam install, so I would do a fresh install from the download, and try again.   I'm thinking one of your files got corrupted since it worked before, and you haven't added any mods.  But I would refrain from deleting random files from the game, probably won't help the situation.    Just back up your saves before hand if you wish.

Oh, we might also use the error.log too.  That might help.

@ZwergofPhoenix I wouldn't install KSP directly into C:  Create C:\Games and try installing there. You don't need to run the uninstaller. You can just delete the directory tree to remove it and then rerun the installer. What kind of errors are you getting when the installer fails? If KSP.LOG isn't being overwritten at all I'd guess it's a permission problem due to being installed where it is.

The log you provided shows you successfully building and launching a vessel named "Sun Prober" before going to the main menu. KSP does crash at this point, but I see crashes on exit all the time and it doesn't seem to affect anything.
