Environment-friendly encapsulated RTG

In 1967 they were designing a military version of Soyuz, Soyuz-VI.  ("VI" is not "6th", its "/ve/ /i:/", after "military explorer")

Instead of solar panels which can fail, it was using two RTG set on long foldable external trusses.

Unlike us, they worried about the RTG burning in the atmosphere (especially due to the nuclear tests treaty), so in the late design the RTG were put into their own small reentry capsules, to be found by the rescue team after landing,

It's a shame that we are still burning RTG in the Kerbin atmosphere. It would be a nice practice to keep implementing this solution in the name of Green Kerbin.
