How can a beginner get into KSP modding

Recommended Posts

Modding can mean lots of things, modeling new assets, coding plugins, or just creating and tweaking configs (this last is the extent of my own efforts).

A good way to get used to how the game works is to start making module Manager patches using pre-existing models.

The most important part is to get started and have fun!

I want to learn how to mod KSP. I have a little bit of C# under my belt and know basic programming terms. Are there any tutorials to start learning. I want to make a mod that replicates the ISS modules

Since you‘re saying that you want to replicate ISS modules, you will need to learn 3D modelling and texturing.

I‘d recommend you to look into the part.cfg files, start changing some values around and see what happens in KSP (make a copy before of course), then slowly get into a modelling software of your choice (I‘d recommend Blender) and texturing, for exporting the model into the game you‘ll finally need Unity.

There are a ton of useful modding resouces available too.
