"Go For Orbit" tutorial keeps failing immediately because I'm "off course". WHY?

Recommended Posts

I follow instructions perfectly, and my course doesn't get off of the pink marker on the navball. It doesn't matter whether I turn on the SAS or not, within five seconds of launch the tutorial has failed and I get a message about being "Off Course".

What the hell am I doing wrong??

Have you validated your game download?

I don't know. How do I do this? I bought the game on Steam last Friday. I've been playing for about 50 hours in career mode and I've installed some graphics mods. How do I find out if my download was validated, and if it wasn't, how do I validate it?

This explains it (it's easy and painless) https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

Thanks

6 files failed, but then at the bottom Steam says that it's normal for one or more files to fail and to just ignore the message. How do I know if I'm good to go?

It's normal for one to fail if you've run the game since the last time you validated (because one file gets updated). Any file that fails automatically gets immediately redownloaded and fixed. So within a couple seconds of getting that message, you are good to go and to try again to see if the problem still happens.
