I was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention them. One of those love-or-hate groups, and Geddy's vocals in particular are an acquired taste. Can't deny the musicianship though.

rush is one of those bands i tried really hard to like and just couldn't get into it.

Every genre has its peach. Amongst all the detritis, there is always someone or some people who nail it. Even country, probably.

Prince is one of those for me, I never liked his music. He is too 80's sounding to me. But an unbelievable talent and multi instrumentalist. His music still leaves me cold though. The 80's sucked mostly. For me anyways. I tried Rush too and whilst I wouldnt sledge them, they do little for me.

Queen are another. As far as Im concerned its just musical theatre. Overated and overhyped. Rock music thats 'safe' for the middle classes. Meh. But I appreciate that the guys are talented and Brian May I like coz he into physics and badgers. But the music does nothing for me.

I'm training my 5yr old Grand daughter. She's going to be a little soul girl. Thats if I can get her outta the baby shark stuff. Altho tbf, it is quite funny watching her do a David Brent dance to it. Her mum and I keel over at that. Prob shouldnt encourage it, but its sooo funny.

prince, queen, bowie all grouped up with rush for me. just not my sound. maybe its too clean or simply doesnt speak my language. i like that the guys in queen are the most educated band in existence, but its just not my taste. if i want theatrics i just break out my gwar videos. its serious social commentary disguised as raunchy shock rock. actually now that i think about it gwar's new frontman has a phd in music.

best thing that happened in the 80s was the extreme metal explosion of '86 what resulted in a lot of good bands.

country has been out of its prime for at least 3 decades. best stuff was the outlaw scene or the trucker music from the mid 70s. og hank williams still pewns all.

I dont 'get' country because Im not American (my late father was tho, naturalised and lived in Oregon - nice state). Altho, I dont mind the Handsome Family, prob due to the theme for that tv series I forget. But on the whole country paasses my by. Asides from the Blues Brothers scene. (My fave film)

Ill leave this link here if anyone is interested. Soul I do 'get'. It seems to speak to me, despite being a white working class brit moron. Amazingly talented artists and musicians, who never got the due recognition their talents warranted. I appreciate them tho. Millie Jackson is one of my favourites and Im listening to her now.

Currently....

My go-to bands have been The Stones and Tom Petty. Man, they never get old....just love their stuff, you know?

I’ve got a friend of Russian descent, and boy oh boy, he loves hard bass! One of our favorite activities is to drive around town, pumping it. To be honest, hard bass isn’t all that bad. I prefer it without vocals...but it’s really great for just hitting the town, ya know?

Bingo!!

Quick question...

Why do you Brits say ‘z’ as Zed? Is that how you learn your abcs, or is it just the way you guys talk? (I’m not poking fun at y’all, just curious about the pronunciation of the letter z...)

Any music from Two Steps From Hell, especially "Victory" and "Flight of the Silverbird"

If there's a music that makes me interested in spaceflight in the first place, that would be "Space Oddity" by David Bowie (Very appropriate when played during ascent stage or during idling in Kerbin orbit)

Also any random music that I found internet that has a melancholic, sad, epic or gothic genre
