explore the minmus?

Recommended Posts

What are the conditions of getting the "explore the Minmus" contract?

I have several contracts about Mimus, to put there satellites and stations, I am postponing them waiting till I get official Mimus go there and "explore the Minmus" mission.  I explored the Mun in the great detail... It is getting boring.  Is my savefile corrupted?

You can only get one "Explore..." contract at a time, so if you are sitting on an "Explore Mun..." contract you'll never see another until you complete it.

Also, you will never get an "explore..." contract for something you've done. So if you already landed on Minmus you did most of it already.

I have completed the "Explore Mun..." line of quests. My Mun lander have returned, and no main storyline quests were forthcoming. That's the problem.

And no. I have not, suspecting that it may lock me out of some missions, have flown to Minmus. No craft have flown further then the Munar orbit.

Now I am exploring Mun's biomes, waiting for Minmus storyline missions to kick in. I have accepted several contracts concerning Minmus, and even one about building a base on Dune, but still waiting for main storyline to direct me towards Minmus.

In the first two tabs, offered and current, you have NO contracts whose names start with the word "Explore"? Then as far as I know that's a bug. There is literally a hard coded number of explore contracts and 1 is that number. I don't believe it's possible to not have one unless you've completed them all.

Note: There is no "storyline" to KSP. If you want to go to Minmus, go to Minmus. You get some money (I don't know how much exactly but it's some) just for doing it, and while the game won't offer you the contract to do that thing anymore, it doesn't "break" anything. You'll still get contracts for other things around Minmus and then the other planets. Well, you would if it wasn't for whatever is happening to your save.

I don't know exactly. They're not visible in the game files. but in my experience you generally start getting them once you've been to Mun, maybe landed or something.

If you want (and don't have tons of mods) upload your save somewhere and link it here. I'll load it up and see what it looks like.

First, did you unlock the space center bits (like Mission Control) enough to allow for more missions? If you're in Career Mode, it's possible that you've maxed out the number of missions you can have at one time. In that case, you need to complete or cancel missions so you can be offered new ones.

Also, I didn't receive any "Land on Minmus" contracts until I had completed the ones you likely have waiting for completion, so that's a possibility... It would really benefit you to send a relay sat to Minmus before landing there, anyway. Un-piloted ships may not be able to follow through on planned maneuvers if your ship is blocked from communicating with KerbNet when the time comes. Happened to me several times, which is when I spammed Minmus with relay sats.

Anyway, even if you don't have a contract for the big things, you'll still receive awards (and rewards) for doing them when they're completed. If you can't wait to complete the other missions, first, I'd suggest saving the game and then land on Minmus anyway to see what happens. If it works, great. If not... reload and complete the missions you've been given.

You always have exactly one explore contract in Mission Control. The destination is partially randomized, except for your very first one (reach orbit).  The contract is generated to  either send you someplace you have explored already, or to send you to a nearby CB that you haven't visited yet. The one explore contract in Mission Control is either accepted, or has not been accepted yet. If you don't like the one you have, and it's been accepted -- you either need to complete it, or fail it. Failing a contract has consequences.

If you haven't accepted it yet, then it has a time limit for acceptance -- or you can usually decline it. When the time limit expires, a new explore contract will be randomly created.
