What is your most fuel efficient machines? to the mun / minmus and back

I see a lot of people here saying their rockets can get to the Mun when they just can't. They simply do not have enough Delta-V. What is happening here is that many of you are taking advantage of the fuel bug. Download the hacky fuel consumption fix and try to take that rocket to the Mun.
-Flying with the unofficial Fuel Bug fix..

You should read posts more carefully..

All rockets in this posts are Mun Landers, tested them my self a few h ago..

Even if i hadn't the mod, i fly 100% thrust until final landing descent, that's at ~1km from the surface or 30-50 s until touchdown..

On average around 30% thrust so if the benefit of 19.11% less consumtion during that period cannot be greater than 100l or 400l for the 3 man capsule..

If you return home with more than that, your good to go..

And i think how i fly applies for most Kerbalnouts here on the Forums..

This is my best rocket. In one mission i've been able to orbit both moons and also land on them, then get into the sun's orbit and leave it to get back home... with successful landing.

That is by far my favorite looking ship, I love the wiring. As far as I'm concerned the true path of the Kerbonaught is to put together the most rickety built, rocket packed monster and have it hold together long enough to complete the mission. Screw the fancy gravity turns and fuel exploits and SAS. If it's not violently shaking in the atmosphere there aren't enough loosely attached rockets. Here is my ship I use to land and return from both moons.

  • 2 weeks later...

The hybrid version of the popular Ford Fusion has earned 47 mpg across the board; on the highway, in town and combined. That is just four shy of the Prius’s 51 city mpgs.

The numbers are impressive. It beats the Toyota Camry Hybrid by 8 miles on the highway and by 4 in the city.

Yeah I think this was much funnier in your head, than it was when you posted it.

wow that's pretty nice. Not sure what I mean by efficient...I guess I mean light, least fuel used, small and simple. Looks like you got all of that going on.

but no sas or attitude thrusters ? are you a wizard?

If you build it light enough, the capsule's reaction wheels are enough to turn it. Especially towards the end, when you might only have 3-4 fuel tanks and some landing gear. Now that the Space Kraken is (mostly) dead, ASAS isn't really necessary either, at least not in the upper stages.

Also, vectored thrust engines let you turn the biggest of rockets, you just burn at 1% or so throttle, and they'll push you right around, without any RCS.

This is my Mun/Minmus lander. It is the lightest 3-seater I have been able to make. 200 tons, can carry 25 tons to LKO and has about 8000 m/s Delta-v which allows you to make somewhat expensive plane changes so you can get to different latitudes on the moons.

It is a two stage booster with a mass of 200 tons capable of lifting 25 tons to LKO.It has an extremely Kerbal first stage separation (the entire first stage Explodes XD) and does not leave any debris in orbit thanks to the separatrons.
