Plane mods for Ferram FAR and v1.8.1

It's time for me to start a new 1.8.1 playthrough. I plan to try Ferram Aerospace Research FAR for the first time. Comments about aircraft and spaceplane mods that work well with FAR, or that work poorly, are appreciated.

1) I especially need recommendations for atmospheric planes; I've never tried any of those mods. Prior playthroughs haven't used many atmo planes because there's not much to do beyond acrobatics and speed challenges. Kerbin flights might be more fun using FAR.

2) For spaceplanes, I am leaning towards Mk2 Expansion, Mk3 Expansion, and MkIV Spaceplane System unless they have problems with FAR. I'm leaning away from B9 Aerospace Core+Legacy and OPT Reconfig+Legacy; they are fun mods but have more clutter than MkIV for large shuttles.

3) Feline Utility Rovers has electric-only auto-hover fans. Those are great for exploring Eve and Laythe. I hope those fans work well with FAR.
