Rocket Plane to the Mun

I strapped a rocket plane to a heavy lift rocket. Here is the result:

It's a pretty ship, but I'm afraid I'm not seeing the "plane" part of the rocket plane. How the heck did you land it?

I removed the landing gear, and rotated the fins by 90 degrees so that I could add a ladder - which I didn't add in the end. It used to have canards behind the cockpit, but those caused the rocket to shake too hard. So it's a stripped down rocket plane strapped to a rocket

And I used the ejection seat on the rocket plane to decouple from the rest of it before re-entry. It doesn't glide very well.
