"some installed mods are incompatible" warning for mods not installed

I try to start it through ckan and get a long list of mods i don't have installed that are incompatible.

I am afraid you will have to be more clear and detailed on what exactly the problem is, as your description of the problem is too vague to understand.

First: CKAN will install dependencies to the mods you have selected.

Second, please read this. There's not much information to work with right now.

Hello @CosmicCharlie, I have moved your problem here where helpful members assist others with modded install problems. I agree with the comments above - providing log files makes diagnoses much easier.

KSP 1.8. on Steam.

When I open with CKAN, whether I have mods installed or not, it tells me I have mods that aren't compatible with KSP.

When I open with Steam, it shows me a black screen.

I don't have the folders the instructions tell me are where the log files are located.

One problem you may have if you are following the instructions for 1.8 is that the AppData folder is hidden by default in Windows. If so you need to enable 'show hidden files and folders' and it will become visible.

It sounds like you do have mods installed, and that is why CKAN is detecting them. 
You didn’t uninstall them correctly in the past.

You have to manually go into the “Kerbal Space Program/GameData folder” and delete everything that isn’t “Squad” or “SquadExpansion”.

Then relaunch CKAN.

I had the GameData folder completely empty. So I can start it with Steam.

Now to see if I can start it with CKAN.
