How to lock stages?

As in, how to prevent an accidental press of the space bar jettisoning a vital piece of your ship? You could add empty stages between them if you’re doing a long transfer burn or a landing, but it’s not nearly as practical to do that when launching.

in flight view. If you don't want to accidentally stage, press alt+L in flight to lock it, and then alt+L to unlock staging.

and if it doesnt work/gets stuck, you can press alt+F12 and go to input locks and clear the input locks and try again.
