Can NOT add drill on convert-250?

Recommended Posts

Q1:I can not add drill/radiator on convert-250,but I can add it on convert-125.Is it a bug or not?

Q2:How many drills(small or big?) should I need to feed convert-250? I don't know how to calculate the exact output.(eg.9% Minmus surface)

Q3:I was watching mining-work(x50 TIME).The drill would shutdown at ninght due to none electric charge, and would not restrart at the next day (Electric charge is full) .So the drill just worked one day.How can I deal with it?Will it work correctly when I am't watching it?

1. Not a bug, the C-250 has no radial attach points and is that way by design. They're trickier to design around than 125s, but work much better as they never shut down due to overheating as long as you've got sufficient radiators on.

2. A single C-250 can support several drills even in a rich ore concentration. I wouldn't worry about it much though, if you have a good ore concentration even a single big drill will produce fast enough to fill your tanks pretty quick, and you can always just time-warp. I usually design them with just one drill or at most two, as drills are heavy and inconvenient to package.

Thank you very much. Now I get another problem.

It will.

Just to expand of Brikoleur's statement.  To save on processing resources KSP will assume that any unfocused ship is producing the same resources in the same quantities forever until you switch to it again, or you get within physics range.  This means that if your mining ship/station is producing positive electric charge while mining and/or producing fuel at the exact time you change ships or return to the space centre, then it will assume that the ship/rig continues to do so regardless of the availability of solar power on the night side of a planet or moon.

You will have to manually start it by r-clicking on the drill and selecting "Start Harvesting". Then you would have to r- click and start the converter as well.

Mining works best in the background- as long as you can produce enough power to run all the drills and converters in the background AND produce enough ore to fuel the converter, it will happily continue to do so when you're not looking at it. Just check in on it every now and again to see if you've filled it up.

You should set the converters and drills to deploy and start/stop mining or converting with action groups- this can be done in the VAB/SPH in all versions of KSP and in flight from 1.8 onwards or by using a mod that adds this functionality. One key press and they all switch on/off at once, much simpler than doing it all by hand!

The exact numbers of drills and converters you should use will vary, but if you've set the game to have scarcer resources then you'll need more drills and for higher ore concentrations less drills are enough. Don't waste your time with the convert-o-tron 125, it's horribly inefficient as it can't be cooled enough to operate properly by design; the 250 is much better in every way, just heavier and larger.

Thanks.Could you tell me what is the mod's name?
