[Crash in-game] nvwgf2umx.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)

Recommended Posts

KSP: 1.10.1.2939 Windows 10 64-bit

Problem: KSP crashes either a second after rocket launch or when returning to hangar (mostly when returning, but not on reverting to the launchpad)

This wasn't a problem before 1.10. In fact, I don't remember the last time KSP crashed, until I updated it to 1.10.

This crash happened 3 times so far:

nvwgf2umx.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
  in module nvwgf2umx.dll at 0033:650427ac.

83% physical memory in use.

Tried:

Reinstalled the newest GPU driver (without removing the graphics profiles)

CKAN Mods installed:

  Reveal hidden contents

Non-CKAN mods installed:

CollisionFX Beta 2.0

FuelTanksPlus patch v3

AudioMufflerRedux Beta 2.6.2

Sounds of Space 1.0

Reproduction steps:

Unknown. Sometimes crashes, other times not. It only crashed 3 times so far, anyway.

Dunno if that helps, i found someone saying downgrading drivers and updating again to latest drivers fixed it for him,

probably not what fixed it but you know worth a try i guess.

I haven't tried that yet but forcing OpenGL or DirectX 11 fixes it. But then KSP probably uses even more RAM (so we at least know it's not a RAM issue).

Huh, maybe KSP uses the wrong GPU?

Might worth a try to google a bit about how can you fix that.

I have a single GTX 970 GPU (and integrated HD graphics in my i5-6600k CPU).

I've googled it and couldn't find an answer but guess what? It just stopped crashing. For no reason.

Edit: it crashed once more but then I installed the second latest graphics driver and it seems stable. I'll update this if it resumes crashing. If not, you can assume that installing an older driver really fixed it.

Ok, KSP still crashes once a day, but there might be another reason. This time it's KSP_x64.exe caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
