Ideas for a Mission Control Setup?

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere else or if this is the wrong place to post.

I persuaded a friend to purchase KSP during Steam’s Autumn Sale since it was 75% off an KSP is my favorite game of all time. I was trying to figure out how we could play KSP in some way together during the pandemic short of Dark Multiplayer and had the thought (as I’m sure many of you have) of having one player act as mission control while the other flies.

Back before KSP left early access I tried Telemachus on my own to simulate a mission control type setup. However, when I looked into recreating this now, I found that Telemachus and its new UI setup, Houston, are out of date/abandoned. While they still work to some degree with the current version of KSP, large portions are missing and I experienced what I believe is a memory leak issue tied to Raster Prop Monitor cameras that I used to stream video to the Houston UI. If my description sounds confusing and bloated, that’s because I found this setup to be just that.

I was hoping that someone might be able to suggest a mod or two that are more lightweight/user friendly that could in some way create a mission control setup as it has been a while since I was up to date on KSP mods.

Thanks in advance!

Youre not wrong here, unfortunately... :(

There were some new people that took a keen interest in revamping Telemachus, and a complete re-write and optimization were being started... the way TM handles the cameras to Houston, was one of the main things they were looking to rewrite. They wanted to make it moar modular & streamlined, so it would be easier to also create new UIs with camera functionality, as well as "fix/reuse" some of the other existing UIs.
But the main coder seems to have become inactive due to IRL issues... :(

There *is* still a discord server set up for Telemachus, but its not very active. Would be nice if someone came along and piced up the reigns again, building off of what was discussed/done in the Telemachus Reborn server:

Now, as to other things to try, there is the Stand Alone Map View mod, that still might work. Couple that, with your "Mission Controller" installing and using the mod Probe Control Room Recontrolled , by LGG....

Please post bac, if you get this setup working ;)

Took a look at both of these and while I think that I could get this running as a LAN setup, I don't quite understand how to get the stand alone map view mod to work over the internet, nor do I understand how to get one person to run the probe room control room recontrolled mod and another to pilot the craft, since they would both have to be controling the same craft from my understanding. Perhaps I'm not picturing it correctly and you could explain in more detail how you picture all of this going together :)?

I am going to try the older style Telemachus without the cameras or Houston integration to see how stable/helpful that is and I'll let you know how that goes. The other issue I ran into last time was that I couldn't figure out how to send the telemachus data over the internet as the directions I was able to find easily weren't clear/were for an older version of telemachus.

I did manage to get portions of Telemachus to work on my own computer and think with some work I could do the port forwarding required to get it to work over the internet. The most obvious thing missing is that the icons for vessels (and anomalies and the space center(s) and everything else) are missing and show up as a missing image link on the map, but the flight data looks good. The docking mode is broken as far as I can tell but it still works good enough for getting to orbit I think.

I was doing this in 1.10, but I’ve since updated to 1.11. I can’t imagine anything has changed dramatically with the cameras or Houston mods, so from my understanding it would likely work just as well in 1.11 with the possible exception of not being able to put the cameras into any storage containers.

Did you get the cameras to work in a browser window?

In 1.10 I did, I haven’t tried the cameras again in 1.11. The Houston interface and the Telemachus interface both are webpages, so when I got the cameras to work in 1.10 they were streaming to the Houston interface webpage that I opened by right clicking on the Telemachus antenna attached to my craft. That configuration of mods did crash the game shortly after I reached orbit though, but there were multiple mods installed that could have been the issue.
