Can I add a patch on a spacesuit?

I don't think you can add a patch to an existing suit in game, but there's no reason you couldn't make it part of a custom (or modified stock) suit texture.

With the instructions in the thread I just linked and your image manipulation software of choice. MS Paint for example.

Agreed. I don't know of any way to add a patch to the stock suit. But you can absolutely add one (or more) onto a custom made suit, yes.
