What music do you listen to while playing KSP?

I listen to music when building; Infected Mushroom has been my choice recently. Once I'm blowing things up / traversing the inky blackness I prefer silence. It mostly for the emersion of space, and partly 'cos I like to be ready to hit record if something wonderful/horrific happens.

Occasionally I do listen to music in space and then I tend to go for liquid drum and bass or the more mellow end of the dub-step spectrum.

My current fav artist is a guy I found on soundcloud called RamesesB. He's stuff is just sublime and quite varied (ie drum and bass to classical), I've used his tracks a lot in my vids.

This is a link to an 8 hour play list of his work; https://soundcloud.com/ramesesb/sets/rameses-b-full-discography, or just go to his stream

I generally enjoy starting with these two, they're both good to get into my playing mood

THEN

I also absolutely love Approaching Nirvana. These 2 are my favorite to begin with before going to the rest. (Evolve is currently my fav album but the new one is growing on me)

A friend recommended this thread to me.

After reading it top to bottom, I see that there are many enthusiasts out there that prefer engine noises over music. As a veteran, I can honestly say that engine noises may be exciting at first, but after clocking hundreds of hours, listening to the same pitch whine or roar gets to be anything but exciting. Then again the smell of a clean burn or the feeling of flight it self makes that noise quite enjoyable. Even if it is just "pure noise".

As a test, I will let you be the judge, by viewing the following videos.

The first two are exciting engine noises without the thrill of flight. "You can even try to listen to them with your eyes closed".

The other two are music scores with visuals. "Look at them and don't think of engine noises".

"AS A SIDE NOTE" to your post on this thread, you can answer the following question. Could you honestly say that you prefer to listen to hundreds of hours of engine noise or music scores.

GE-F110-100C - Motor Test

Ares 1 - Motor Test

Best of Web 4

Les Chevaliers du Ciel

SIDE NOTE: I will take a good music score over an engine noise any day. "Just as long as it is not an overplayed music score".

Oh man, how could i forget in my last post... some good old IDM...

Access to Arasaka (for all you old school pen & paper rpg players, yes - that arasaka is meant ;) )

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/C1bJugdBmqI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And of course... Geomatic with their fabulous album 64 lightyears away... awesome in every aspect

<iframe width="480" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/dKmwRle-FVQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Stendeck is an awesome band as well... spherical soundscapes meet nice dancable baselines (no oomz oomz... for those who fear)

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/cNYP8jp3MHc?list=RDcNYP8jp3MHc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

All 3 bands are under contract of Tympanik Audio... search them on youtube for more of this awesome sound :)

Enjoy!

I like metal (Metallica mostly nowadays), electro (Daft Punk, Télépopmusik, Kavinsky, Gorillaz) and a bit of various stuff (Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, etc) but these days I'm totally stuck on Carpenter Brut : I listen to him whenever I play Cities Skylines or KSP. The guy is known for his participation the Hotline Miami OSTs.

He is usually classified as "Outrun" or "horror electro", but I don't know how to describe it better than "the perfect O.S.T for any 80's video game or movie" : I typically don't like 80's stuff (despite being 35, but too shiny, too loud, too kitsch), but his tracks have a perfect balance of light, quiet ambiance and dark, furious crescendos.

Awesome youtube playlist with a few other "Outrun" tracks from other guys at the end :

Edit: How do these people drag up these threads from Davy Jones's locker? Seriously, you'd have to actually DIG to find these threads. C'mon people, get with the program.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
