Rendezvous Problems

Recommended Posts

When rendezvousing with another craft I cant seem to get the markers to show up. I get the approach markers but then when it comes to the EVA step even with the ships 100m away from each other I cant see it and there are no markers around it.

They are like 4 little yellow L's that make a box around the target.

Please advise.

I am assuming during the rendezvous you are selecting the other craft as the target?

If/when you're doing a Kerbal EVA, once they are on the outside of the spaceship they are another "vehicle" and you would need to re-select the appropriate target. Sometimes there is a difficulty because on the map view the icons are too close to select the right one; and on the flying view you need to sweep around to find them; and even then, if they are closer than 150m the surrounding (magenta?) square guide no longer shows, then you need to click directly onto the target object. And its not always possible to click onto it - firstly because it might be dark and at 150m they are too far away to see clearly; and also I've noticed, not all parts are clickable (docking ports are, but other parts might not be).

After a little while I made a habit of going EVA and selecting the target >150m, even if the two vessels were approaching and would soon be closer.

The other option is to refine and refine the target approach distance until it is VERY close - I think my closest was about 200mm!?! That way, once the Kerbal steps out, it is easy to see/find.

Sometimes F4(Toggle ship labels) and the ingame setting cancel itsother, so if F4 still doesn't work then manually go to settings and enable them, and then F4 should work fine from there.

What is that setting called

That "Show Vessel Labels" option controls whether the box is visible at first -- F4 always works, for me, to toggle the box visibility.

If you are 100m away, and had yellow markers until the EVA, that is the situation @paul_c explained above.

You have to somehow re-target your goal from the point of view of the Kerbal, to get the yellow box.
To me, that part of KSP a frustrating.  If you drift 200m away, then at least KSP will show the magenta box.

You can try opening Map and select the target but it is kinda iffy if you are so close.
