Why can my level 1 pilot access all of the SAS abilities?

My pilot, Jeb, can use all of the directions in SAS, even though he is level 1 and has just started out.

Are you playing in Science mode? Or using any mods?

What version are you playing?  That was a known 1.11 bug.  I thought 1.11.2 fixed it, but honestly I haven't played the latest version to tell you for sure

Ah now I remember, what I could check in 1.11.2, but haven't played much, yet... This bug was introduced in 1.11.1. I couldn't find a proper changelog for 1.11.2, the announcement had a really short one:

So if you are using version 1.11.2, this might tell us, it wasn't addressed in the update. Which is very likely to be the case.

That is probably the problem.  Glad to know I haven't messed up one of the difficulty settings.
