KSP crashing at startup

Recommended Posts

KSP is crashing a couple of seconds after I launch the program. I've played it on this machine in the past, though I've added RAM and a second hard drive since then. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, deleted and allowed the program to rebuild settings.cfg, and made sure there are exceptions in my antivirus for KSP.

I'm running version 1.11.2. Additional info from buildID64.txt:

[config]
build id = 03077
2021.03.03 at 15:15:30 PST
Branch: master
language = en-us
distribution name = Steam

Player.log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7uxvlx9d1v8k0h4/Player.log?dl=0
error.log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j2hdhxzwzhskqba/error.log?dl=0

Please let me know if any additional information is needed, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Says it’s an issue with CKAN being installed in the wrong directory? Unfortunately I don’t use it myself so not sure where it should be installed?

From Error log:

Kerbal Space Program by Squad [version: Unity 2019.2.2f1_ab112815d860]
igd10iumd64.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
  in module igd10iumd64.dll at 0033:4a26e994.
Error occurred at 2021-05-31_185900.

What is igd10iumd64.dll?

igd10iumd64.dll is part of Intel HD Graphics Drivers for Windows 8(R) and developed by Intel Corporation
igd10iumd64.dll's description is "User Mode Driver for Intel(R) Graphics Technology"
igd10iumd64.dll is usually located in the 'C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\' folder.

Possible solution:  Update the Intel Graphics Driver/Accelerator

Hi all! Thanks for the input, unfortunately I still haven't been able to fix the issue. I'll give specifics under the below quotes:

It looks like there were still some old registry entries from CKAN. I ran CCleaner and I'm not seeing CKAN in dxdiag.txt anymore, so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

So I was pretty sure my drivers were up to date, but sure enough Intel had a newer driver on their site that I wasn't getting through Dell. I applied the update, but it's still crashing.

Updated Player.log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7uxvlx9d1v8k0h4/Player.log?dl=0

I uninstalled and reinstalled KSP again after cleaning up CKAN, and it doesn't seem to be generating error.log anymore.

Hey again! I've continued researching the problem and came across a fix! By adding the -force-opengl flag to the command line, KSP is now able to launch. I made it to the main menu but haven't tried actually starting a career yet. I'll come back and post again if I run into more problems but for now it seems like I've got it working.  Here's the thread that pointed me in this direction:

I don't know if thats related but i read similar problems that had to do with KSP picking the on board graphic card as default and not the correct one and that is causing problems.

Very well could be. I'm playing on a laptop, so all I have is the integrated graphics chip.
