The best SSTOs for planets with atmosphere.

I Built my own SSTO to Duna, it was ok until I noticed that my plane can't fly... It's just falling down like rocket... Of course I jumped and survived... My mission was successful for 50%. Why? Duna has atmosphere and I can like glide and lift my plane... But... No...

And I know, I lost 1 my R.A.P.I.E.R, but it was my main problem. Please help why I'm failing down so fast.

duna's atmosphere is very thin. it is possible to fly in there, but not practical.

The best ssto for duna is a normal rocket. Duna's atmosphere is a wonderful thing, in that you can aerobrake from interplanetary intercepts with little or no protection, you can aerobrake to land and even use parachutes, but you can also mostly ignore it when you leave. all the advantages of an atmosphere and none of the flaws.
