Playing Custom Mission without Expansion and Asteroid Detection in Mission Builder

Hi,

I am currently building a STEM course on orbital mechanics and is planning to use Kerbal Space Program for simulation! A have a few question though, if a student buy the base version without an expansion, is he/she going to be able to play the custom missions that I design in the mission builder tool?

And finally, is there a way to detect if the Asteroid exploded or landed on Kerbin?

Thanks! I will look into that! Though since this will be an online class, I'm not sure how licensing would work with the students with the edu version
