If I have already paid for KSP + DLCs for linux, do I have to pay again if I switch my game machine to Windows?

Nope, no need to pay again.  When you buy KSP, you get access to the Windows, Linux, and Mac versions.

That said, are you having any Linux specific issues we might be able to help you with?

Ok, thanks.  I'm not having a linux specific issue, a hardware issue.  Cracked keyboard circuit board probably.  But the drive got corrupted so I figure I'd rebuild from scratch but this time leave room for Windows in case that ends up being the only way to play with mod development for KSP2 (it isn't in stone that linux will be supported by KSP2, but I'm guessing it will be eventually if not right away).  I know I could use Proton to still play it under linux/wine probably, but for mod dev I imagine it will just be easier to use Windows.  So am going to put a bigger drive in and make it dual boot.  Ideally I'd have the game installed in both OSes for testing regardless of which one I dev in (but only running one at a time so no harm, no foul)

As for help, not at the moment, but maybe down the road.  I do appreciate the offer

Understood.  Personally I'll probably pass on KSP2 if it absolutely requires Windows to run.  I'm down to one game that I need a Windows install for (and only if I want to do multiplayer at that) and I really don't want to add to that list.

I hear ya.  Windoze drives me nutz.   I'm really hoping that the only reason it isn't listed for the initial release is because the new dev process at Take-Two is Windows-centric so that is their initial target, but that given the roots of KSP and that Unity makes it fairly easy to put a game on console, linux, and even Mac, that it will be done shortly after initial release, if not at the initial release.  Didn't they bring on a bunch of KSP devs that know linux inside and out?   They'd be idiots not to leverage that
