Probe exploding when landing on Eve

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a problem with a rover that I want to send to Eve.

I have attached it to a structure  with four LT-2 landing struts. On top it has four MK-2 R parachutes, so that when it reaches the surface of Eve it goes at a speed of 2.8 km/h.

Well, every time I have tried to land the probe has exploded as soon as it touched the surface. I don't know what to do to make it land softly on Eve.

Thanks!

Not sure if that is a typo but 2.8 km/h is 46m/s which is way fast.  Something less than 8m/s would be good, less than 5m/s even better

Nevermind, I got a big units error in there thinking minutes instead of hours, lol.  idk why your probe is blowing up right off.

Do you have a pic?

I see this is your first post, welcome!

If you right-click on the landing legs you can adjust the dampening and spring rate of the gear typically.  If the dampening is currently low, try it higher and vice versa.  If your spring rate is currently low, try it higher, and vice versa.  Does the probe look like it is bouncing a lot on landing?  Press F3 after the explosion to see what part exploded first for more info

You're right, I meant 2.8 m/s

ur welcome!   I have never found the default settings for spring rate to work for me and have always had to tweak them.  Same for wheels.   The default dampening always likes a bit of tuning, especially for rovers.  This makes sense as craft come in all shapes and mass and the gear can be placed with just a few, or 6 or more.
