[SOLVED] KSP crashes when changing resolution or fullscreen

I recently installed KSP again (completely fresh and unmodded) and I don't know if it is the new update causing this but every time I attempt to change the resolution or change the game to fullscreen, the game freezes and then crashes.

I have tried everything from verifying game cache and messing around with settings and commands but nothing seems to fix it. Please help!

UPDATE: I did a bit more googling and found that my game was for some reason running on Dx9 which cause crashes when changing resolution. So for anyone else having this issue just type this in your launch settings: -force-d3d11
