I made a similar mistake using a faring to cover up where my Duna Craft went from 2.5m to 1.25m for a materials bay/other science, then realised I needed to EVA to pick up the science and move it into the return capsule -_- Ended up using time warp to jam the kerbal into the tiny gap so he'd be close enough to the experiments

Thankfully, as the problem station is sat in LKO, rather than out on Duna (I imagine that must have been a real "facepalm moment"), and there's no budgeting yet), it should be fairly straightforward for me to send up another reactor; the new design uses a cargo bay, not structural fairings, to hide all the unsightly gubbins.

Planned expansions, docking arm with escape pods, more Roid's, space craft, expanded fuel section, living quarters.

Took seven launches to build and refuel but this refuelling station makes even E class asteroids quiver with fear. It has over 3kT and stores more than 220 000 unit of liquid fuel and about 24 000 units of monopropellant. I'll probably continue building it, possibly adding some kind of living quaters, but it already experiences horrible lag even with the improvements 23.5 brought.

You know why all teh lag? ON top of whatever part count you have, KOSMOS panels are especially laggy. I would encourage you to look into Near Future Propulsion for awesome solar panels that come with less lag attached.

They do get stuck quite often though...

Never had them stick once for me (assuming you're refering to NFP panels not KOSMOS).

Pretty. What are those parts between the adapter and the FusTek module on the bottom module?

Hi everyone .

After twelve launches...

Here is my new station with docked KSO spaceplane.

Two Labs with a lot of science and KSO parts.

Kosmos and KSO solar panels.

I just need to add a couple of modules and it will be finished!

The small blanket array gets stuck quite a lot at times. Most recently on my Asteroid Observation Laboratory (check my News Network in a couple hours if you wanna know more) where it just stood in its' "neutral" state, while the array on the other side of the AOL rotated normally... It's not a big deal as just pulling it back in and extending it again seems to fix the issue...

I prefer the look of the KOSMOS panels, less scifi, more like ISS plus they rotate around the axis. Didn't know they induce a lot of lag but the station was quite laggy even before I added the panels.

Kerbal International Space Station or AKA K.I.S.S. haha get it?

Features

-2 main solar arrays

-dedicated shuttle docking port

-2 docking clusters that support all ship types

-Re-fuel/monoprop module for all your needs

-rotatable cupola module

-rotatable lights so you can aim lights during docking or self illuminate station

-rotatable greenhouse/bio section so that the sun will always provide direct sunlight to module

-2 escape pods that hold 3 crew

-ATV vehicle

-3.75 meter dock for future craft such as intersteller ships or tankers

-cargo hold with opening doors that hold kerbal attatchment stuff and supplies

-RSC tug

-2 Canadarms and 1 buran manipulator strategically placed among the station to grab any craft or do self station work.

Today, I finished my favourite station so far - Ares LKO. Technically it has capacity for 36 Kerbals but I like to have no more than 7 in at any one time.

I also have a 7 man CTV docked.

Lit up against the backdrop of Kerbin - empty SRB's make for surprisingly good structural elements

Showing off the lights - due to my ineptitude, those solar panels don't get any light (and I don't want to change the orientation :P )

This took a few solid hours of work to get built, and it underwent a major redesign once the previous solar array turned out to be horrendously unstable. I installed a new one, complete with inflatable hab modules and disabled the reaction wheels, and all seems good again. :)

I've noticed lag with the Kosmos panels too. Especially the gigantic ones. They also had animation issues back when I used that pack. The near-future pack actually includes some reasonably ISS-y panels now too. Give it a look sometime if you like. I notice that with the near-future pack, the largest panels which dwarf small moons, lag in the VAB slightly for me but after starting the flight they have no impact on my frame rate whatsoever deployed or not.
