Painting headshields.

Ksp1 was limited for its heatshields for only round parts. It could be better if we could use paint tool to generate heat shield on any wanted surface.

Agreed.  Even better if that could have a gameplay effect - painted surface has heatshield properties, but with associated costs as well.

Yes, although it could be a little overpowered, you just cover your whole craft in a heatsheild and no heat damage.

Mass cost?  Lower fuel fraction? Perhaps it could also be not a lot, which means you probably aren't doing repeated re-entries without risk of overheat.

And that's assuming you're going fast enough for heating to be a massive problem

Yeah, also if they add larger "starship style" parts, I would love the ability to add heat shields on that.
