can you turn on peristant debris?

Hey all, simple enough question.

I built my mun lander in 0.16, and i wanted to have the landing stage stay on the mun/minmus as proof that I was there (kinda like how the apollo missions left stuff behind at their landing sites). But now it seems that when you get a certain distance away from debris, it disapears. Is there anyway to turn it on?

Under settings, there is an option for "Maximum debris" or something like that. Make sure you have a reasonable number(Mine is infinite).

Also (in case you don't know this), you can keep your active pod mission from ending just by hitting escape and hitting "Tracking Center."

You need to go to Settings - Gameplay and set the Max Persistant Debris slider to something other than 0.

Oh that slider I set to 50 ages ago. debris still disapears on me.

I think the last time I watched, it got to 3K before going poof.

Try increasing it and see if the debris disappears again.

The game SHOULD keep 50 pieces of debris flying around, deleting the oldest one once a new one is created, but maybe there is a bug or something...

Did you go back and check? Debris more than ~2.5km away isn't shown but it should still be there if get close enough again.

Also, debris is not always shown on the map screen unless you are focused on a craft near(ish) to it, as EndlessWaves says, you may need to go back and look.

Plus the debris slider should be on 250 by default.

oh, maybe thats why I thought it went poof. no, I didn't go back and check. Admittedly, didn't think to double check where I landed. I thought it just disappeared, maybe its still there...is there a way to have the debris with nothing near it show up on the map? I think the best I could do is go back to my ship still in orbit, but I think i left it 30k above the surface. I understand that having it orbit around 2k means it could crash into a mountain.

AFAIK, once in-flight, all debris is shown unless you're zoomed in or out too far to see it. It just doesn't show in the Tracking Station.
