Big Air Challenge

Recommended Posts

I've been hooked on this Youtube channel for diecast car racing, 3D Botmaker.  The channel, are particularly Big Air Dylan are the inspiration for the Big Air Challenge.

So, here is what you need to do.

1. Build a ramp.

2. Build a "car".

3.  Drive car off ramp.

4. Bask in the glory (or get to hospital).

2 Categories: electric wheels or jet/rocket (no propellors)

RULES:

1.  Align your ramp with the white marker  on the runway (see above image).  You can drive it there, tow it or do whatever it takes.

2. You may start your run anywhere back to the end of the runway.

3. Jets/rockets must cut their engines before any part of the vehicle touches the ramp. No rocketing through the air. If you can, take video. Otherwise, the honour system applies. (The video above fails on this count).

4. You may build the ramp out of anything, of any length to any height.  Ramp may be straight or curved.

5. You may not use any part from the aerodynamic category on the car (nose cones, nacelles and intakes excepted).  In other words, you are building  a car, not a glider.

6. Stock and DLC only.

7. No fly by wire or extra SAS.

8. Major style points for doing this without SAS at all. (In event of tie or very close, non-SAS car wins).

9. You must end up intact and upright. (But carnage video is always appreciated).

10. Car must be Kerbaled.

11. Winner is the one who goes the furthest (defined as point closest to edge of ramp that you car touches down (if it bizarrely bounces backwards, then you measure from where you stop).  Get a shot of your touchdown.  This will be judged by eyeball unless someone wants to create a mod that puts measurements on the runway.

12. Keep to the spirit of the challenge. I cannot account for every loophole. If in doubt, ask.

LEADERBOARD:
