Problem with struts/fuel lines

I'm having a lot of trouble placing struts or fuel lines in the VAB. While it works sometimes, usually I pick up the part I'm trying to connect with struts. Anyone else experiencing this, or have a solution? It's pretty much stopping me from building any proper rockets.

I'm using NovaPunch, KW Rocketry and an assortment of other plugin mods (the usual suspects).

Do you have the kerbal engineer mod? A couple of the recent versions have had this problem but it should be fixed in the latest one.

If KSP is running slow in the VAB then this can happen a lot, to me at least and is very frustrating, see if it's any better with the VAB animations off.

Hold your mouse still for a second over the part. confirm that the part you want turns green before you click. it's actually a frame or two late, and this becomes noticeable with huge rockets.

It's curious that in space, astronauts have to learn a similar habit of holding things still for a second to "put them down"
