The Kerbal Space Race

This, as you can tell, is a kerbalized version of the space race. Since it's kerbalized, it will embody the main aspects of the Kerbal spirit: Kerbals love space, and they never give up. Oh, and you also have to add a k to, like, everything.

Chapter 1: DAWN OF THE SPACE AGE

Flags of the Kerbal States and Sobriety Onion

Tensions between both of Kerbin's superpowers, the Sobriety Onion and Kerbal States, were rising. After the second of the great war, several Kerman scientists were picked up, to begin working rockets to reach space (and other countries). Years of development of rocketry and space science got closer and closer to launching Kerbin's first artificial satellite. Wernher Von Kerman, one of the top rocket scientists of Kerbin, had a satellite ready. But he never got the green light. That is, until Kaputnik.

12 days later, the Soberets launch the first animal in space on Kaputnik 2. It was a little Doglan (Kerbal dog) named Laikerb.

The Kerbal States had to act fast. Finally, they gave Wernher Von Kerman the green light to launch Explorkerb, the Kermarica's first satellite. President Dwight D. Kerman also opens the KSP, which Explorkerb will launch under. As the sun rises over Cape Kerman, the Joolno 1 rocket lifts off of the ground, and heads off into space.

Explorkerb did discover something important, though. The Van Kerman belts, huge belts of radiation above Kerbin. Whatever the case, one thing is for certain. The Space Age has begun...

Changed flags (old ones were trash).

CHAPTER 2: THE SATELLITE ERA

Now, of course, both nations are going to launch like a billion satellites. The K.S. breaks at least one record first, launching Kerbin's very first solar powered satellite, Vankuard 1. Vankuard isn't much, in fact it looks a lot like Kaputnik. But the satellite is capable of recharging itself, and is no longer limited to its own batteries.

The Soberets didn't care about a floating flower, they cared about science. Behind the scenes, they'd been working on Kaputnik 3, Kerbin's first scientific satellite.

The Kermericans were still going to launch their tried and true Explorekerb. This launch was Explorkerb 2. While not a scientific satellite, it's still a display of power to the Sobriety onion.

The Soberets, though, are practically unaffected by this. They have their eyes set beyond Kerbin. And while the KSP has their eyes set beyond Kerbin, they're still quite far away.

CHAPTER 3: TO THE MUN!

While the Kermericans were busy with launching sticks into orbit, the Sobriety Onion was working on a munar orbiter. The probe is called Muna 1, a fairly basic spacecraft that collects only very basic science. But the goal here isn't science, it is to beat the K.S. at various milestones. The K-7 Munik is quite overpowered for a munar spacecraft. And the actual rocket itself is only a little transfer and orbital stage on top of a K-7 Kaputnik. But the Soberets didn't care about fine tuning. They just had to get to get it done. Time to fly!

When the K.S. heard about the Soberets recent success, they knew they had to act fast. They have the design for a munar orbiter for a while, but now it was time to laucnh it. The was the Kioneer probe. It was designed for exploration of Mun and Minmus, and it was fairly cheap to make. The rocket they were going to use was the Khor-Capable rocket, the only rocket in the Kerbal State's arsenal capable of a munar flight.

However, one must remember that the Mun isn't Kerbin's only Natural satellite. Minmus, while it's not on many Kerbal's minds, the Kerbal States intends to get there first. They will conquer Minmus.
